We had a surprising number of pictures of dead people i n the archives from this era. Usually, these weren’t well to do folks in our area , and getting your pictures taken was an expensive thing at the time. Sometimes, the post-mortem photograph a family would arrange might be the only picture ever taken of that person. This was especially true if the decedent was a child.
